Georgia Southern University hiring goes digital May 12

STATESBORO, Ga. - April 4, 2008 - Georgia Southern University announced that it will begin using a new online employment application and hiring system beginning May 12. The new system, PeopleAdmin, will streamline the University's employment process providing a user-friendly, Web-based approach for recruiting employees.

Applicants will be able to view job specifications and apply for positions on the Web at any time of day from any location with an Internet connection. Applicants will create a password-protected file to maintain or update employment applications, and job seekers will be able to apply for multiple positions at the University without filling out multiple applications. With PeopleAdmin, applicants will also be able to attach additional files for the hiring manager review at the time they apply.

“PeopleAdmin will allow hiring managers to assume more ownership of the employment process,” said Demetrius Bynes, employment manager in the Department of Human Resources. “We’ll be able to collect and review employment application materials online, and at the same time provide feedback to applicants regarding the status of their search.”

Computers will be available at the Department of Human Resources for use by walk-in candidates that may not have access to an Internet connection. After May 12, Georgia Southern University will no longer be accepting mailed or faxed copies of resumes and applications. Applicants will need a valid e-mail address to submit their employment application.

More than 300 colleges and universities use People Admin including Columbia University, Cal Poly, University of Arizona, Kennesaw State, Virginia Tech, University of Kentucky, Texas A&M University and the University of Pennsylvania. PeopleAdmin reduces the time and costs associated with the employment application and position management process.
