2009 Holiday Schedule

Due to the current budget crisis, energy conservation and operational efficiencies are paramount concerns for the University.  Because of these issues, the previously adopted holiday schedule for calendar year 2009 was reviewed and an alternative for December holidays was proposed.  The proposal was to close the University from December 24th through January 3rd rather than return to work during the week between Christmas and New Years.  This would allow the University to be closed for 11 consecutive days, instead of nine days, as previously adopted.

The Personnel Advisory Council (PAC) reviewed the proposal and unanimously recommended the change. The President’s Cabinet accepted the PAC recommendation.   The new schedule requires that the University be closed seven working days.  However, for this period the University only has available six paid holidays of the annual total of 12 allowable by Board of Regents’ policy.  Consequently, employees will be required to use annual leave, comp time, or leave without pay for one day.  All other Holidays remain the same as previously announced.
