Employee Relations Information

Our goal is to foster a positive work environment by providing guidance and assistance to employees and managers in administering Georgia Southern’s policies and procedures. Through doing so, we remain dedicated to promoting a cohesive, effective, and high performing work environment while remaining focused on the Mission, Vision and Values of Georgia Southern.

Essentially, Employee Relations is concerned with preventing and resolving employee issues that may affect work situations. We also provide information on Alternative Dispute Resolution, Mediation, and Grievance procedures. HR professionals are available Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. to speak with you confidentially about individual or organizational needs.

Employee Relations will provide guidance and advice on HR policies and assist employees in resolving a variety of workplace concerns such as:

      • Work environment issues
      • Conduct expectations
      • Communication problems
      • Working Relationships
      • Inter-office communication
      • Career development
      • Quality of work issues
      • Management practices
      • Finding the appropriate resources
      • Unfair treatment
      • Questions about policies
      • Employee Complaint/Grievance Form – For employees to use to address concerns other than disciplinary.
      • Employee Appeal/Grievance Form – For employees to appeal a suspension, demotion, or termination.

Employee Relations will assist managers and supervisors with performance management, including the annual Performance Appraisal process, conduct and performance expectations, progressive disciplinary process, or other employee concerns that may arise. We consult with Managers and Supervisors regarding many issues such as:

  • Strategic planning
  • Finding the appropriate resources
  • Organizational effectiveness
  • Quality of work
  • Attendance
  • Management practices
  • Questions about policies
  • Working relationships with employees
  • Performance Expectation Plan
