Georgia Southern Employee Earns a Master’s Degree: You can do it using your TAP benefits

Have you thought about continuing your education? The Tuition Reimbursement Program or TAP, is one of the most exciting benefits from the University System of Georgia.

This session with Staff TAP coordinator Heather Bradley, Megan Murray of the Averitt College of Graduate Studies, and Dean of Graduate Studies, Dr. Ashley Walker will cover questions such as:

Who is eligible? What does TAP pay for, and what does the employee pay for?

What degree could I earn while employed at Georgia Southern?

If I work full-time at GS and have a family, is this really possible?

What are the benefits to having an advanced degree if I want to stay with Georgia Southern?

And you’ll get a chance to find out what the experience was really like from a recent graduate of the College of Graduate Studies, Jennifer Hoopes.

Mindfulness, Movement, and Self-Care

Looking to improve your self-care? No need for long weekends, expensive spa days. In this session, you will learn on-the-job self-care strategies using mindfulness and moving your body with gentle stretching.

Spanning Boundaries to Enhance Collaboration

The world of work, especially in higher education, can be one of isolation and loneliness. As professionals, we are educated to be experts at our jobs/disciplines, and not so much to be experts (or even proficient) at collaborating with others. Yet the continually increasing complexity of our world requires that we work across silos if we are to be our most effective and productive.  In this workshop, we will dive into the siloed world of higher education, consider how our predisposition towards silos is hindering us from being our best, and discuss strategies and some practical applications that we can use to begin reaching across boundaries to foster collaboration.

Ready, Set, Feedback with Google Forms

Why is feedback important? In this session, we will learn why we should collect feedback, how to create and share a Google Form, and how to analyze the data in order to make improvements.

Personal Skills for a Diverse Campus

A new inclusive excellence training course has been loaded into “Building a Better U” for all employees. The course, titled “Faculty and Staff: Personal Skills for a Diverse Campus,” can be found under the “Training” header in the MyGS portal. This is a baseline course that starts with basic diversity competencies. This course is also being delivered for students. The courses are free and not required — they are personal enrichment training sessions the university has developed to help faculty, staff and students achieve our university-wide goal of inclusive excellence.
