Summer Faculty Pay Information


The Summer School spreadsheet will replace PPGRA for processing pay for full time and part time faculty teaching summer school courses and selected non-teaching assignments.


Timeline – Summer Faculty Pay Information – 2018

Departments must update/assign faculty to courses in Banner on 5/1/2018 by 5:00 PM.

  • 5/1/2018 – Banner schedule data will be downloaded at 5:01 PM.
  • 5/4/2018 – Provost Office shares Summer Google Sheet with Dean
  • 5/4/2018 – 5/11/2018 Departments must review, update, and approve appointments
  • 5/11/2018 Colleges distribute tentative summer employment sheets outlining teaching assignments to faculty
  • 5/11/2018 – 5/15/2018 Departments will continue updating Summer Google Sheet.
  • 5/16/2018 -5/21/2018 Summer school spreadsheets open to Deans and select  designee to make additions and/or corrections.
  • 5/18/2018 Deadline to submit zero comp PA
  • 5/21/2018 Summer Google Sheet closed to all including Deans and designees by 11:59 PM.
  • 5/22/2018 – 5/31/2018 Departments must submit any changes on or after 5/22/2018 via Revised Summer Appointment table to Jennifer Berghoff, Provost Office. If sponsored funding (grant) is involved, contact Connie Clark, who will forward the approved correction to the Provost’s office
  • 5/23/2018 Provost Office sends Deans a copy of Summer Google Sheet
  • 5/23/2018 – 5/25/2018 Deans review and confirm payments, insert descriptions for assigned course/courses, and descriptions for Non-teaching assignments.
  • 5/25/2018 Confirmations/corrections and updates must be returned to the Provost Office by 10:00 AM
  • 5/25/2018 – 6/1/2018 Final Reviews by Provost Office and Research Accounting (Grants) Office
  • 6/4/2018 Provost Office sends summer school spreadsheet to Budget Office. Any  changes after 6/4/2018 for the June or July payroll must meet the established monthly Payroll Deadlines, using the Summer School Revised PA.
  • 6/5/2018 Provost Office sends to each college the summer spreadsheet to produce the final summer information sheets.

If you are searching for a faculty, and no matches are found, verify that the person you are searching for is a 10-month or part-time faculty. If they are 10-month or part-time, check with HR to make sure they have been hired. You may need to submit a Hire PA for that person.

FAQ: Personnel Action Form – Summer Semester

New to GSU and teaching as Part-time faculty (teaching and non-teaching assignments):

  • Zero ($0) compensation regular PA – this PA is used to capture personnel information
  • Provide Faculty Appointment Paperwork as directed by the Office of the Provost
  • Deadline to submit PA 5/25/2018

New to GSU fall semester as full-time benefited faculty member and teaching and/or non-teaching assignments summer semester:

  • Zero ($0) comp regular PA  as Part-time summer faculty
  • PA remarks section – note that the faculty member will be starting Fall semester, August 1, as benefited faculty
  • Provide Faculty Appointment Paperwork as directed by the Office of the Provost
  • Deadline to submit PA 5/25/2018

Returning Part-time faculty: (not active during Spring semester)
