Funding Requirements & Costs

Funding Requirements

Below you will find the dual enrollment funding limitations that went into effect in Summer 2020.

• Funding is limited to 30 semester credit hours.
• Limited to Juniors and Seniors
  • Sophomores with 26 ACT or 1200 SAT are eligible
• Students are not able to receive funding for repeated courses.
• Students who receive 2 withdrawals are no longer eligible for funding.
• Funding is limited to approved courses only.
• If you enroll in any courses that will not be covered by DE funding, you will need to complete the Non-State Funded Form, and send it to your DE Counselor.

Beginning with the Summer 2026 term, students must meet both U.S. Citizenship and Georgia Residency eligibility requirements to receive Dual Enrollment Funding. 

US Citizenship Requirement

Students must be a U.S. Citizen or a Title IV Eligible Non-Citizen according to Federal Student Aid regulations

• Funding is limited to 30 semester credit hours.
  • Is a U.S. permanent resident with a Permanent Resident Alien Card (I-551); or
  • A conditional permanent resident (I-551C); or
  • Holds an Arrival-Departure Record (I-94) from the Department of Homeland Security showing any of the following designations: “refugee,” “asylum granted,” “parolee” (I-94 confirms paroled for a minimum of one year and status has not expired), or
  • “Cuban-Haitian entrant.” or
  • Victims of human trafficking, in accordance with the Victims of Trafficking and Violence Protection Act, may also be considered Eligible Non-Citizens.

Georgia Residency Requirement

Students must be a GA Resident according to the following requirements: 

• Board of Regents’ Georgia Residency requirements if attending a USG institution
• State Board of TCSG’s Georgia Residency requirements if attending a technical college 
• Georgia Residency Requirement as listed in the Georgia

Costs

Students are not responsible for tuition and mandatory non-course-related fees, such as technology, transportation, and student activity fees that traditional students would otherwise pay.

In order to receive the funds necessary to cover tuition and waive mandatory non-course-related fees, students must submit their GAfutures Dual Enrollment Scholarship Application prior to the beginning of the academic year.

Fees

Students are responsible for course fees as well as fees for non-mandatory services such as parking and dining if students would like to purchase a meal plan.

Not all courses have course fees, but many math and science courses do. Course fees typically range from $20 to $55, however, some courses have higher fees. Some examples of courses that require fees are CHEM 1211K (Chemistry) and BIOL 1107/1107L (Biology).

Students are also responsible for any proctoring fees as a result of any online exams being proctored.

Dual enrollment students have access to almost all fee-supported services, including the RAC, student activities, and even attendance at athletic events. However, dual enrollment students cannot participate in NCAA Athletics or Fraternity and Sorority Life and do not have access to Health Services or the Counseling Center (except in crisis situations or for referrals).

1. Log into MyGeorgiaSouthern
2. Locate the Financial Resources section
3. Click View/Pay Your Tuition Bill
4. Click View Activity

Course Materials

Students participating in the dual enrollment program are provided “required” course materials for approved courses at no cost to the student. Dual Enrollment physical course materials will be mailed to the student’s home address. Costs are not covered for materials marked “optional,” for courses outside of the approved course list, or repeated courses. Course materials purchased from other merchants will not be covered/reimbursed.

Unless otherwise stated, course materials must be returned to the bookstore at the end of each semester in good condition to avoid fees. Students are permitted to write in lab manuals.

Housing

Students are permitted to live on campus while participating in the dual enrollment program. If they choose to do so, they will be responsible for all costs associated with on-campus housing.
