Piano in the Arts presents season-ending concert on Georgia Southern’s Armstrong Campus
Georgia Southern University’s Piano in the Arts presents “Showtunes and Classics,” March 5 at 7:30 p.m. in the Fine Arts Auditorium on the Armstrong Campus. Admission to the concert is $15 with discounts available for military, seniors and children. Georgia Southern students, faculty and staff are admitted free with their Eagle ID.

Arbor Day annual celebration helps to make Georgia Southern greener
Georgia Southern’s Center for Sustainability (CfS) and Division of Facilities Services hosted a celebration honoring Georgia Arbor Day on the Statesboro Campus by planting trees on historic Sweetheart Circle. Students, CfS staff and campus volunteers teamed up to plant 25 containerized trees on Sweetheart Circle and Southern Drive and 650 seedlings around campus.

Faculty in Georgia Southern University’s Jiann-Ping Hsu College of Public Health have secured a $248,000, two-year grant from the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, the nation’s largest philanthropy dedicated solely to health.

‘Godspell’ next up in Main Stage Series at Performing Arts Center
Broadway favorite “Godspell” will be presented by Georgia Southern University’s Theatre and Performance program and the Performing Arts Center (PAC) on the Statesboro Campus Feb. 27 through March 1. The musical is a part of the PAC’s 2019-2020 Main Stage Series.

Science on Tap brewing scientific conversations in Savannah, Statesboro
Mastodons, tortoises and human trafficking are the next three installments for spring 2020 of Science on Tap, a series of unique conversations in Savannah and Statesboro about various scientific topics given by professors at Georgia Southern. The series is hosted by the College of Science and Mathematics (COSM) at Georgia Southern University.

A new playing field: former athlete turned educational leader inspires students to be campus, community leaders
John Egan, Ed.D., spent his undergraduate and graduate academic career pursuing degrees in sports management. As an award-winning college pole vaulter, Egan wanted to continue his passion for sports, melding it into his career. Yet, when he began as an advisor in Georgia Southern’s Student-Athlete Services, which provides academic support and development to student-athletes, in 2012, Egan’s professional focus quickly shifted from sports management to students.

Georgia Southern University’s Daniel Calhoun, Ph.D., associate professor of educational leadership, is one of only three individuals internationally to receive the 2020 Annuit Coeptis Senior Professional Award from the American College Personnel Association — College Student Educators International.
