Georgia Southern University is creating a new Strategic Plan for the University with the help of community members, students, faculty and staff. The University wants to receive community input that will help define the goals and priorities for the institution through seven facilitated Strategic Planning Town Hall events in Hinesville, Statesboro and Savannah.

Georgia Southern Master of Kinesiology program earns Level 5 comprehensive accreditation
Georgia Southern University’s Master of Kinesiology with a concentration in coaching degree has earned Level 5 Comprehensive Accreditation by the United States Center for Coaching Excellence Board of Directors and the National Committee for the Accreditation of Coaching Education (NCACE). Additionally, Georgia Southern’s minor in coaching behavior was re-accredited as a Level 3 Comprehensive Accreditation. The University’s coaching programs, housed in the Waters College of Health Professions, are one of only 29 accredited programs nationwide. NCACE accreditation signifies that Georgia Southern’s programs meet or exceed requirements in the National Standards for Sport Coaches and the NCACE accreditation guidelines.

Registration open for Georgia Southern’s study abroad program in Cuba
Georgia Southern University will offer its second study abroad program in Havana, Cuba, from July 2 to 17. Students will learn about the history, culture and contemporary issues affecting the communist island nation post-Fidel Castro. The program is open to all Georgia Southern students, as well as University System of Georgia transient students, and offers a roster of semester credits. The deadline to apply for the program is Feb. 15.

Piano in the Arts continues fifth season with ‘Baroque, Romantic, Contemporary’
