Former ITT Technical Institute students are invited to explore online, compatible courses in their field of study that are available through Georgia Southern University’s Division of Continuing Education.

Enrollment at Georgia Southern University has reached a historic high at 20,674 full-time students for Fall Semester 2016, marking an increase of more than 200 students from Fall Semester 2015.

In the midst of Hurricane Matthew, residents of coastal Georgia were not the only ones taking to the evacuation routes. A gopher tortoise, diamondback terrapins, box turtles, sea turtles, additional turtles, an owl and a wood stork from the Georgia Sea Turtle Center on Jekyll Island took shelter on Georgia Southern University’s campus as the hurricane passed through the region.



Georgia Southern University alumna Shaunté Francois was selected to design the 2016 Governor’s Award for the Arts & Humanities. Francois, a jewelry and small metals artist, graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts (3D Studio Arts) in 2015.

Upon the request and recommendation of students through the Student Government Association (SGA), the University’s Fall 2016 Commencement ceremony for graduate and undergraduate students is being moved from Hanner Fieldhouse to Allen E. Paulson Stadium, and will be held on Friday, Dec. 9, at 1 p.m. Tickets will not be required for entrance to the ceremony at Paulson Stadium.

During his first 100 days as Georgia Southern University’s 13th president, Jaimie Hebert, Ph.D., listened to alumni, faculty, staff and the community by asking them to share their thoughts with him through a unique survey open since July 1. In a town hall event on Monday, Oct. 17, he shared the results of the survey and discussed his vision for the University.

Thousands of alumni and fans will flock to Allen E. Paulson Stadium for two Thursday night football games this season: Oct. 27 against Appalachian State University and Nov. 10 against the University of Louisiana at Lafayette.
