Naming celebration for Georgia Southern’s Parker College of Business recognizes growth of business programs

In recognition of the new partnership between Georgia Southern University and entrepreneur and philanthropist Greg Parker, the University hosted a naming celebration Friday for the newly named Parker College of Business. Community members and business leaders joined University students and officials to formally usher in a new chapter of academic excellence and student opportunities in the University’s growing business programs.

Georgia Southern University to host Mission and Vision Feedback Sessions, welcomes input from community

Georgia Southern University’s Strategic Planning Committee will host University Mission and Vision Feedback Sessions on March 5-7 at campuses in Statesboro, Savannah and Hinesville. The six facilitated events are open to the public and designed to gather feedback from the community and to offer the opportunity to shape Georgia Southern’s new mission and vision statements, values and goals — all of which will inform the University’s new Strategic Plan.

Georgia Southern grad student recognized by American Society of Civil Engineers

Georgia Southern civil engineering graduate student Mariah Peart has been selected by the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) as one of 10 New Faces Of Civil Engineering for 2019 — Professional Edition. Engineering professor Gustavo Maldonado, Ph.D., said it’s the first time a Georgia Southern student has received this recognition.

Open House highlights Georgia Southern, Savannah State partnership

To provide unprecedented educational opportunities for the region, Georgia Southern University and Savannah State University (SSU) will host a joint open house on Georgia Southern’s Liberty Campus in Hinesville on Feb. 7 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.

Military members and their families, and other prospective students, will have the chance to learn more about career-enhancing programs where they live and work. During the event, SSU President Cheryl Davenport Dozier, and Georgia Southern Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs Carl L. Reiber will discuss the universities’ strategic partnership and share more about the importance of making these programs available to prospective students.

Georgia Southern invites community to participate in Strategic Planning process through February events

Georgia Southern University is creating a new Strategic Plan for the University with the help of community members, students, faculty and staff. The University wants to receive community input that will help define the goals and priorities for the institution through seven facilitated Strategic Planning Town Hall events in Hinesville, Statesboro and Savannah.

Kyle Marrero Named President of Georgia Southern University

ATLANTA (University System of Georgia) – The Board of Regents today named Dr. Kyle Marrero president of Georgia Southern University. Marrero will begin his new position effective April 1.

Georgia Southern University will welcome noted journalist and author Roland S. Martin as the 2019 annual Martin Luther King Jr. (MLK) Celebration Speaker on Wednesday, Jan. 30, at noon in the Student Ballroom on the Armstrong Campus and 7 p.m. in the Performing Arts Center on the Statesboro Campus.
