Band director, Georgia Southern alumna joins esteemed music educators in 2026 Rose Parade 

Joy Harden (’98) was among a group of almost 400 band directors who gathered from across the country as well as Canada, Mexico and Panama to perform in unison for this year’s “Banding Together” float in the 2026 Rose Parade in Pasadena, California.

Georgia Southern University’s Director of Health Services, Emily Brannen (‘14, ‘16), was named to the Statesboro Herald’s annual 20 Under 40 Class of 2025 list, which recognizes young professionals making their mark in Bulloch County.

The Georgia Southern University Alumni Association “40 Under 40” Class of 2023 was recognized at a ceremony on Sept. 29 at the Statesboro Convention & Visitors Bureau. Six new members recently joined Georgia Southern University’s Alumni Association Board of Directors. Founded in 1933, Georgia Southern’s Alumni Association’s Board of Directors is made up of alumni volunteers who are leaders in their communities and who have given tirelessly of their time in order to promote Georgia Southern.

Focused on using art to boost the spirits of those in their Sandy Springs community, art studio owners and college roommates Sandra Lewis (‘92) and Kris Bleiler (‘91) are using the current crisis as an opportunity to offer new ways for their business to inspire and connect.

Georgia Southern music alumnus returns to Statesboro Campus for performance of ‘Legally Blonde, the Musical’

Award-winning trombonist and Georgia Southern University alumnus Eric Spencer will be back on campus March 4 as a member of the orchestra during a performance of “Legally Blonde, the Musical.” The show will start at 7:30 p.m. at the Performing Arts Center on the Statesboro Campus.
